Who Is Mistral Dawn?

Mistral Dawn is a thirty-something gal who has lived on both coasts of the US but somehow never in the middle. She currently resides in the Southeast US with her kitty cats (please spay or neuter! :-)) where she works as a hospital drudge and attends graduate school. Taken By The Huntsman is her first effort at writing fiction and if it is well received she has ideas for several more novels and short-stories in this series. Please feel free to visit her on FaceBook or drop her a line at mistralkdawn@gmail.com

#August2018 #IndieBooksBeSeen #Indie #Author #Books #Monthly #BookReview!

Hey Everyone!! :-)

It's the 18th again, so time for my #IndieBooksBeSeen monthly indie author book review!! Enjoy! :-)

Lodestone: (Witch-Hunt) by Wendy Scott:

In a time without magic, Sabrina is a new healer who has had a sheltered life at school learning her craft. But events conspire to place Sabrina at the center of an adventure that will very likely end in her death. Accompanied by the story of her ancestor, Lauren, and a sliver of the Lodestone, Sabrina must find and destroy the rest of the Lodestone and restore magic to Valloaria before the anti-witchcraft militia murders everyone she holds dear...if her crush on the prospect monk, Micah, doesn't distract her.

This was an interesting story. The characters were well-developed and fit the people they were supposed to be. Sabrina was a bit of a brat, but she was a kid put in an impossible position that she was completely unprepared for, so it made sense that she had a little bit of an attitude. Lauren's story was heartbreaking and showed how bad things can go even when people are trying to do what they think is the right thing. The story was a little slow in places; it took a while for all the parts to wind themselves together, sometimes. Still, four starts, it was a fun read and I'll probably check out any more books that come along in this series.
