Hey Everyone!! :-)
It's the 18th again, so time for my #IndieBooksBeSeen monthly indie author book review!! Enjoy! :-)
Dauntless by Tom Atwood Jr.:
Imagine losing a parent and then losing everything you ever thought you knew about the world around you all in one blow. That's what happens to Kacey Alexander when she opens a chest she received as part of her inheritance and discovers her mother was a Sentinel! Then the race is on to see if she can learn enough to take up the mantle left by her mother and face down the evil that's trying to destroy her city. Will Kacey be up to the challenge? You'll have to read to find out!
This is a fun YA urban fantasy. It was a little confusing at first because there's a lot of backstory that the reader doesn't know, but it makes sense because the main character doesn't know it either, and part of the story is accompanying her on her journey as she finds the answers to all the questions swirling around the reader's mind about her world. The characters are well-developed and read like "real" people and not caricatures. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next in the series. Five stars.
