Who Is Mistral Dawn?

Mistral Dawn is a thirty-something gal who has lived on both coasts of the US but somehow never in the middle. She currently resides in the Southeast US with her kitty cats (please spay or neuter! :-)) where she works as a hospital drudge and attends graduate school. Taken By The Huntsman is her first effort at writing fiction and if it is well received she has ideas for several more novels and short-stories in this series. Please feel free to visit her on FaceBook or drop her a line at mistralkdawn@gmail.com

Transitioning Perceptions...

Hey Everyone!! :-)

Here's a little bit more of the third installment in the Petri Dish Chronicles! As always, the disclaimer is that this is a draft and, as such, it's unedited and likely full of errors and is subject to revision, revamping, and being completely scrapped and rewritten. But, with that in mind, I'm reasonably satisfied with the basics of it, at least at the moment, or I wouldn't have bothered posting it. Enjoy! :-)

Excerpt from the third Petri Dish book:
Vlad gestured to his city. “Won’t you step into my parlor?"

“Said the spider to the fly,” Chessie finished the quote absently while looking around at the impressive sight.

Petri and her friends followed Vlad as he led them down a street lined with flashing neon signs advertising all manner of wares and services for sale. Petri was shocked, and a bit disturbed, by how out-of-place she felt. This virtual reality was almost an exact replica of the city she had grown up in, streets she had known every nook and cranny of because her survival had depended on her ability to find a crevice to hide in at a moment’s notice, but now she felt…lost. The cacophony and chaos she had once found invigorating and useful for the distraction it offered, now she experienced as disorienting and exhausting. She couldn’t help but wonder if it was tied into the effect the rainbow always had on her, or if she’d really gotten so soft so quickly.
