Who Is Mistral Dawn?

Mistral Dawn is a thirty-something gal who has lived on both coasts of the US but somehow never in the middle. She currently resides in the Southeast US with her kitty cats (please spay or neuter! :-)) where she works as a hospital drudge and attends graduate school. Taken By The Huntsman is her first effort at writing fiction and if it is well received she has ideas for several more novels and short-stories in this series. Please feel free to visit her on FaceBook or drop her a line at mistralkdawn@gmail.com

How To Keep Warm On A Cold Night... ;-)

Hey Everyone!! :-)

I just wanted to share a little something to help get your Halloween off to a good start. Enjoy! :-)

Excerpt from Taken By The Huntsman:
So he was smart, strong, hard-working, fun, reliable, good, and beautiful. She would have to be the most exactingly fussy, and ungrateful, woman in all of Fairie or Earth to not recognize the value of what he offered to her. And yet, she still felt drawn to return to Earth. She didn’t know if it was perversity on her part, or a fear of the intimacy he wanted, or just a nagging part of her that mourned her loss of independence. But, whatever the reason, she felt the pull.

So where did that leave her? So far, she hadn’t discovered any means for returning to Earth. Everything she had read on the topic indicated it would be a difficult and dangerous journey just to get to the right portal, which she wasn’t entirely sure she could find the location of. And even if she did find it, she would have no way to open it. Should she really continue to pine after an impossibility? Or should she accept her life for what it was now and explore the possibilities available to her? After all, the life she was growing accustomed to in Fairie was a pretty damn good one.

Cassie had always been a painfully practical person. The unpredictability of her situation as a child had made it necessary for her to learn early to accept what couldn’t be changed and to work with what was available. So the answer was clear to her.

She thought she could come to love Cadeyrn deeply, and it was clear he was utterly devoted to her. That wasn’t such a bad foundation to start from. In time, she thought she could come to understand the justice system in Fairie and fill her role as the female ruler of this kingdom. That would give her a place and occupation, and it would allow her to fulfill the need she had always had to help others.

There was clearly plenty of work for willing hands in such a large household, and she felt sure she could make herself useful in any number of ways. And, at the end of busy days, she would have nights with the stunning male who seemed ready, willing, and able to aid in the exploration of her every sexual fantasy. How could that be a bad thing?

Cadeyrn’s return interrupted her musings. “I apologize for the interruption, Anamchara, it was a matter that couldn’t wait. But I assure you, you have my full and undivided attention now.” He gave her a grin that she felt right down to the center of her.

Smiling back at him, she asked, “Is something wrong?”

“No, just Court politics. Soon we will need to discuss the relations between the Courts because they will, at times, affect you. But tonight, I want our focus to be on just the two of us. Will you allow me to defer satisfying your curiosity until another time?”

The look he gave her scorched her from the tips of her toes to the ends of her hair. Cassie had never had a male look at her with such heat. She found her mouth suddenly dry, but she nodded and reached out to cup the side of his face in her hand.

Turning his face into her hand, he placed a soft kiss on her palm. “Cassie, tell me truly, are you ready to consummate our relationship? I beg you, do not toy with me. I am desperate for you, and I do not know how far my control will hold.”

She swallowed against her dry throat and said, “I’m ready to try for a relationship with you. But that’s all I can promise. I’m willing to see where things between us go and if they can work out. Can you be satisfied with that?”

“Satisfied? No. Never satisfied. But I’m willing to accept it, for now, and work to earn your love and your trust.”

Cassie smiled and ran her fingers gently over his cheek and into his hair. Cadeyrn pulled her closer, and she felt the hardness of his body against hers. Leaning down, he kissed her with a passion that left her breathless. His lips were soft and gentle against hers, almost chaste. Until he pulled her closer and deepened the kiss, tracing his tongue along her lips until she opened to him, and he tasted her mouth thoroughly.

She moaned into his mouth and ran her hands over his broad shoulders and swollen biceps. Grabbing his bulging muscles, she used the leverage to try to pull herself closer still.

Cadeyrn groaned and pulled back. He looked down into the liquid blue eyes of his Anamchara and saw the passion and desire of a woman who knew exactly what she wanted.

“Cassie, tell me simply. Will you allow me to take you to bed this night? Yes or no?”

Holding his breath, he waited for the answer. He would abide by her decision regardless of what it was. Though, he was pretty sure she was as ready to take their relationship to the physical level as he was, he didn't want to rush or pressure her. But he was desperate for her to say yes.

Looking up at him with a teasing smile, she answered, "Oh, yes. I want you to take me to bed and show me what kind of skills a male can acquire with hundreds of millennia of practice.”

Cadeyrn growled deep in his throat. His eyes were glowing, and he felt his canines lengthen in his mouth. “Female,” he said, in a voice that had gone rough and gravely. “You know not what you ask for. But I will give it to you anyway.”

Whoo! I doubt she'll be feeling any chills. ;-) Want to find out what happens next? Grab your copy at the link below! Happy Reading! :-)
