#Agent Thoth's #Personal Log: Day 1025

Hey Everyone! :-)

Agent Thoth discusses more of the trials and tribulations associated with living with hominids. Incidentally, if you've missed Agent Thoth's earlier entries, you can find them here: Thoth's Journal

Department for the Preservation and Confirmation of Intelligent Life (DPCIL)
Agent Thoth's Personal Log

Day One-Thousand-Twenty-Five:
My pursuit of the question of the possible contamination of my hominid-servant’s bathing liquid has been temporarily disrupted by the fact that multiple, unfamiliar, juvenile hominids have come to my domicile and depressed the alert button that indicates they desire admittance. Thus far, my hominid-servant has denied their requests, instead distracting them with small treats and redirecting them to an unknown alternate location. Which, for reasons as mysterious as those that brought them to my door to begin with, has without exception caused them to depart as precipitously as they arrived.

The behavior of these small hominids is quite odd, as they do not seem to have been trained in the proper greeting rituals dictated by hominid culture. Instead, they have all utilized a distinctive code phrase, “Trick or Treat,” when confronted by my hominid-servant. I’m uncertain if this is meant as an offer, a threat, or if it’s just random noise that contains no real meaning. However, my hominid-servant displays no signs of distress and seems to regard this sudden alteration to our routine as expected. I will continue to monitor this new development and report back on any further elucidation I’m able to obtain as to its cause.

Hominids are so weird! ;-) You may have noticed that Agent Thoth has a new look. I hope you like his new picture as much as I do, but I'd love to hear your thoughts, either way. Feel free to let me know what you think in the comments. ;-) Happy reading, everyone!

How To Keep Warm On A Cold Night... ;-)

Hey Everyone!! :-)

I just wanted to share a little something to help get your Halloween off to a good start. Enjoy! :-)

Excerpt from Taken By The Huntsman:
So he was smart, strong, hard-working, fun, reliable, good, and beautiful. She would have to be the most exactingly fussy, and ungrateful, woman in all of Fairie or Earth to not recognize the value of what he offered to her. And yet, she still felt drawn to return to Earth. She didn’t know if it was perversity on her part, or a fear of the intimacy he wanted, or just a nagging part of her that mourned her loss of independence. But, whatever the reason, she felt the pull.

So where did that leave her? So far, she hadn’t discovered any means for returning to Earth. Everything she had read on the topic indicated it would be a difficult and dangerous journey just to get to the right portal, which she wasn’t entirely sure she could find the location of. And even if she did find it, she would have no way to open it. Should she really continue to pine after an impossibility? Or should she accept her life for what it was now and explore the possibilities available to her? After all, the life she was growing accustomed to in Fairie was a pretty damn good one.

Cassie had always been a painfully practical person. The unpredictability of her situation as a child had made it necessary for her to learn early to accept what couldn’t be changed and to work with what was available. So the answer was clear to her.

She thought she could come to love Cadeyrn deeply, and it was clear he was utterly devoted to her. That wasn’t such a bad foundation to start from. In time, she thought she could come to understand the justice system in Fairie and fill her role as the female ruler of this kingdom. That would give her a place and occupation, and it would allow her to fulfill the need she had always had to help others.

There was clearly plenty of work for willing hands in such a large household, and she felt sure she could make herself useful in any number of ways. And, at the end of busy days, she would have nights with the stunning male who seemed ready, willing, and able to aid in the exploration of her every sexual fantasy. How could that be a bad thing?

Cadeyrn’s return interrupted her musings. “I apologize for the interruption, Anamchara, it was a matter that couldn’t wait. But I assure you, you have my full and undivided attention now.” He gave her a grin that she felt right down to the center of her.

Smiling back at him, she asked, “Is something wrong?”

“No, just Court politics. Soon we will need to discuss the relations between the Courts because they will, at times, affect you. But tonight, I want our focus to be on just the two of us. Will you allow me to defer satisfying your curiosity until another time?”

The look he gave her scorched her from the tips of her toes to the ends of her hair. Cassie had never had a male look at her with such heat. She found her mouth suddenly dry, but she nodded and reached out to cup the side of his face in her hand.

Turning his face into her hand, he placed a soft kiss on her palm. “Cassie, tell me truly, are you ready to consummate our relationship? I beg you, do not toy with me. I am desperate for you, and I do not know how far my control will hold.”

She swallowed against her dry throat and said, “I’m ready to try for a relationship with you. But that’s all I can promise. I’m willing to see where things between us go and if they can work out. Can you be satisfied with that?”

“Satisfied? No. Never satisfied. But I’m willing to accept it, for now, and work to earn your love and your trust.”

Cassie smiled and ran her fingers gently over his cheek and into his hair. Cadeyrn pulled her closer, and she felt the hardness of his body against hers. Leaning down, he kissed her with a passion that left her breathless. His lips were soft and gentle against hers, almost chaste. Until he pulled her closer and deepened the kiss, tracing his tongue along her lips until she opened to him, and he tasted her mouth thoroughly.

She moaned into his mouth and ran her hands over his broad shoulders and swollen biceps. Grabbing his bulging muscles, she used the leverage to try to pull herself closer still.

Cadeyrn groaned and pulled back. He looked down into the liquid blue eyes of his Anamchara and saw the passion and desire of a woman who knew exactly what she wanted.

“Cassie, tell me simply. Will you allow me to take you to bed this night? Yes or no?”

Holding his breath, he waited for the answer. He would abide by her decision regardless of what it was. Though, he was pretty sure she was as ready to take their relationship to the physical level as he was, he didn't want to rush or pressure her. But he was desperate for her to say yes.

Looking up at him with a teasing smile, she answered, "Oh, yes. I want you to take me to bed and show me what kind of skills a male can acquire with hundreds of millennia of practice.”

Cadeyrn growled deep in his throat. His eyes were glowing, and he felt his canines lengthen in his mouth. “Female,” he said, in a voice that had gone rough and gravely. “You know not what you ask for. But I will give it to you anyway.”

Whoo! I doubt she'll be feeling any chills. ;-) Want to find out what happens next? Grab your copy at the link below! Happy Reading! :-)

Something Worth Watching?

Hey Everyone!! :-)

I'm back today with another video I wanted to share. I'm sure everyone who reads this blog has already heard about AOC's endorsement of Bernie Sanders' candidacy for president, but I thought this video did a really good job of making it clear why Bernie is the only real choice for progressives in 2020. So, please take a few minutes to watch, and then you can make up your own mind. Peace!

They Work For Us!

Hey Everyone,

I'm not sure how many of you may be interested in this, but I thought I'd share anyway.  A while back, when our tangerine study in moral turpitude attacked "The Squad," and told them to "go back where they came from," I wrote to my Congressman, a Republican, urging him to speak out against this hate-speech. His response, the meat of which I pasted below, irritated me. So, I wrote a letter responding to his letter that I pasted below his letter. Ain't democracy fun? ;-)  At any rate, in case any of you might be curious, or might need some inspiration to write to your own representatives, I thought I'd share.

Congressman's Letter To Me:

Some have expressed frustration with some of President Trump’s recent Twitter activity. Specifically, a tweet that referenced four freshmen congresswomen. I have said that the President should tone down his Twitter rhetoric. However, I think he is correct to be unhappy when Members of Congress constantly talk of our country with disrespect.

As you may know, House Democrats brought H. Res. 489, condemning President Trump's comments, to the floor of the United States House of Representatives on July 16, 2019. Each Congress the House votes on a rules package that includes certain rules of decorum that are to be observed on the floor. Unfortunately, the Democrats prioritized politics over upholding the rules and precedents of the House, by engaging in personal attacks towards the President in the text of this legislation. In fact, had a Member of Congress read the entire text on the House floor it would have been a breach of decorum.

I am hopeful that people across the nation will take a moment of reflection and realize that while we may disagree on the issues, elected officials, both Democrats and Republicans, or liberal, progressive, or conservative, choose to serve because of a dedication to their communities and our country. Just because we disagree does not mean that someone on the other side is inherently evil. People on both sides of the aisle tend to forget this.

My Letter Responding To Congressman:

Dear Representative XXX,

I received your email and appreciate you writing back to me, but I feel I need to respond further to what you said. Your letter seemed rather dismissive of the issue I wrote to you about: the racist rhetoric directed by President Trump towards the Congresswomen who have popularly been dubbed "The Squad." It seemed to me that you were more focused on what you perceive as bad behavior by some in Democratic leadership than in the hate-mongering by the President of the United States of America. You referenced "rules" and "decorum" that had been "violated" by Speaker Pelosi, in particular. So, since the issue of behavioral norms seems to interest you, I thought I would bring up a few more.

We can start with Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell's, refusal to confirm President Obama's federal judge appointments in a timely manner. Historic obstruction that culminated in Senator McConnell's refusal to bring up Merrick Garland, or any other nominee from President Obama, thereby keeping a seat on the Supreme Court open for more than 400 days. Something I'm sure you must agree is far outside the norms of accepted partisan politics.

Then, in 2017, McConnell changed the rules again, ending the use of the filibuster even for Supreme Court nominees and clearing the way for the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. This was done in spite of credible testimony regarding serious criminal conduct by Kavanaugh. Again, a severe breach of protocol, as I'm sure you'll agree.

In April of this year, McConnell undid 213 years of history by changing the rules of debate for judicial and low-level executive nominees to reduce the allowed time from 30 hours to only two hours. Again, far above and beyond what one would expect from mere disagreements between political parties.

And let's not forget the systematic blockade by McConnell in the Senate of legislation passed by the House, including on what should be bipartisan issues such as securing the integrity of our elections and common-sense gun legislation reform. This isn't simply voting against such legislation, as would be normal, but refusing to allow it to come up for a vote at all. Which, I'm sure you'll agree, is well beyond the normal obstruction to be expected from an opposition party.

As for "decorum," I think we should look at the president who has declared himself to have an irresistible urge to grab women by their genitals without first obtaining consent. A claim that is certainly supported by the number of women who have accused him of sexual assault. I had wanted to make this a comprehensive discussion of all the examples of this type of behavior from the president -- behavior that really should induce one to do more than simply urge the president to "tone down his Twitter rhetoric" -- but the list is so long that it would turn this letter into a book. So, I'll do my best to just stick with some of the more egregious examples.

We can begin with the instance in November of 2015, when President Trump was still Candidate Trump, when he publicly mocked the physical disabilities of a reporter who had only done his job in challenging what was clearly a lie Candidate Trump had perpetuated regarding how Muslims in America had reacted to the 9/11 terror attacks. That any adult, much less a man in the running for the highest office in the land, would ignore all the social conventions and bounds of decency that prohibit such a display is, I'm sure you'll agree, shockingly indecorous.

In July of 2016, Candidate Trump mocked and belittled the parents of a Muslim-American soldier who had been killed while serving in the United States Army. In January 2018, President Trump, when discussing a bipartisan immigration bill, dubbed the countries that would be affected by the proposed legislation "shithole countries." And, just within the past couple of days, President Trump publicly insulted one of his own supporters because of the man's weight.

Of course, there are also the infamous attacks against the late Senator John McCain regarding his military service. The repeated and virulent attacks against Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, and other people of color, which arguably have led directly to several instances of violence by people who admire the president. And the repeated assertions that parts of the United States represented in our government by people of color are "crime-ridden" and "filthy."  And none of this even touches on the numerous instances of apparent fraud, grift, and other potential criminal conduct the president has been associated with.

As I'm sure you'll agree, all of this, and so much more I didn't even get to mention here, represents a complete and utter lack of respect for societal norms, decency, or decorum of any description. Therefore, I found your focus on Speaker Pelosi's accurate use of the word "racist" in describing President Trump's attack against four US Congresswomen to be more than a little disingenuous. So, perhaps, at this point, it might be possible for us to move beyond pointing fingers and whataboutism -- not to mention the sudden, random concern over an assault against your tender, innocent ears -- and focus on another term with which you are likely familiar by now: Stochastic Terrorism.

Stochastic Terrorism, on the off chance you haven't heard of it before, is rhetoric that, though it's impossible to know specifically who will act, has a high statistical probability of inspiring violent action among some of those who hear it. The classic example of this was when King Henry II of England was reported to have posed the "rhetorical" question, "Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?" with regards to Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury, in the year 1170. The question was presented as a rhetorical device, and one used in the heat of anger, not as a specific order, but it still resulted in four knights who were in service to King Henry traveling to Canterbury with the intention of arresting Thomas Becket, though they ultimately ended up murdering him. King Henry was not held criminally liable for this murder, something that would have been rather complicated given he was king, but the Pope did hold him spiritually culpable and forbade him from receiving mass until he had performed public penance.

We, here in the United States of America, do not have a king. The founders of our great nation thoroughly rejected the concept and, instead, instituted a government that includes a system of checks and balances to ensure that no one can ascend to a level at which they will be above the law. You, Sir, are a part of that system; a member of a co-equal branch of government with the authority and responsibility to rein in the excesses of the executive branch. My initial letter to you was an exhortation for you to live up to that responsibility and perform the duty that We, The People put you in that position to do.

President Trump's hateful rhetoric towards the four Congresswomen, though also arguably towards any member of a minority group he has attacked, goes beyond matters of decorum and civility. His statements are made from a position of power to those who feel they are beneath his authority. Violence is not just a predictable result, under the circumstances, it's almost an inevitability. Once again, I urge you to put aside partisan politics, to put country over party, to speak out against this type of hate-speech, and to make it clear that such vitriol directed against minorities is not to be tolerated from those who serve The People in our government. I say this not as a Democrat, but as a registered Independent and as an American. Because you are correct, regardless of our political leanings, we do need to come together as a country and make it definitively clear that we are not a nation of hate.

Thank you very much for your time and attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Whoo! That was a mouthful. Congratulations for making it all the way here. I hope this post wasn't too much of a drag, and that maybe you can use some of what I wrote here in your own correspondence with your elected officials...as well as voting in every election, of course Anyway, thanks for reading this far and don't forget to check back tomorrow for the next installment of Mistral Dawn's Musings! :-)

Peace!

#Agent Thoth's #Personal Log: Day 1021

Hey Everyone! :-)

Agent Thoth discusses more of the trials and tribulations associated with living with hominids. Incidentally, if you've missed Agent Thoth's earlier entries, you can find them here: Thoth's Journal

Department for the Preservation and Confirmation of Intelligent Life (DPCIL)
Agent Thoth's Personal Log

Day One-Thousand-Twenty-One:
My hominid-servant’s habits regarding her daily self-immersion in liquid H2O remain unaltered. I have managed to sample the liquid that remains on her epidermis after she emerges from the dispensing chamber, but have detected no contaminants that might lead to the development of a dependency in any known mammalian physiological makeup. This, naturally, led to the hypothesis that any such contaminants must become volatile when exposed to air, and so by the time I am able to take a sample they have dissipated.

The obvious course of action is to take my sample directly at the source of the H2O and test it immediately. This plan is complicated by the fact that my hominid-servant does not moderate the flow of the H2O, and so the force of the stream is such that it is difficult to avoid contact with. This effect is exacerbated when she transfers the stream to the outlet she uses to disperse the liquid over her body. I will continue to observe and seek an opportunity that will allow me to collect the sample I require.

Hominids are so uncooperative! ;-) You may have noticed that Agent Thoth has a new look. I hope you like his new picture as much as I do, but I'd love to hear your thoughts, either way. Feel free to let me know what you think in the comments. ;-) Happy reading, everyone!

The Oasis Of Home...

Hey Everyone!! :-)

Here's a little bit more of the third installment in the Petri Dish Chronicles! As always, the disclaimer is that this is a draft and, as such, it's unedited and likely full of errors and is subject to revision, revamping, and being completely scrapped and rewritten. But, with that in mind, I'm reasonably satisfied with the basics of it, at least at the moment, or I wouldn't have bothered posting it. Enjoy! :-)

Excerpt from the third Petri Dish book:
As she entered the building, the peaceful ambiance that permeated the lobby enveloped her. That vibe was what initially drew Petri and Chessie to make this particular building their home. There was some quality, some tone, to the character of the entranceway that made one feel immediately safe and welcomed. Undoubtedly Wema would have an explanation for it, Petri reflected fondly, but it had always been easier for them to have their fun at her place since she lived alone.

But, whatever the explanation, it never failed that when Petri walked into this building, she felt like she had come home. The walls and ceiling were painted a warm blue-green that had been textured to look like water. The floor was a soft, dusty purpley bluish stone that looked like the Zanzibar’s sky just before the sun disappeared below the horizon at night. And the furniture was almost organic in its flowing design. There was one table with a lamp that was brown and green and looked as though whoever made it had intended to suggest the outline of a tree, though there was nothing overt about it that was treelike. The couches and chairs tended to be low and in shades of blue and gray, so they looked almost like stones sitting in shallow water. And there was a picture on the wall that was an abstract work all in oranges, reds, and yellows that somehow didn’t look out of place, but instead took on the roll of the sun.

The gestalt effect of the room was one of tranquility and acceptance. As if it meant to instantly communicate to all who entered that nothing bad could ever happen to them here, and they were wanted and appreciated just as they were. The dichotomy between her current home and where she had lived in Under City was so great as to seem almost surreal to Petri at times, but she was enormously grateful for the change in circumstances.

Something Worth Watching?

Hey Everyone!! :-)

I'm back today with another video I wanted to share. This one discusses something I've talked a little bit about, how to form a strategy that will put the progressive agenda front and center in national politics. It's great that we have all these nifty ideas, but unless we put people in power who will implement them, that's all they'll be. Ideas. So please take a few minutes to watch this video, and if you have any thoughts you'd like to share, feel free to post them in the comments. Peace!

Button Soup #Recipe!

Hey Everyone!! :-)

I've got another recipe for you, today...sort of. ;-)  First, a story. This one isn't one of my stories. This is an old story; an old folk tale. I don't know who originally came up with it, but I've heard several versions. The title I first heard it called was Button Soup, but I've heard it called Stone Soup and a couple of other titles, too.

It's about a town miser, an Ebeneezer Scrooge-type character, who lives in a town where a lot of people are starving. He's the only one who has money, so the rest of the town comes to beg for food, but he claims he doesn't have any. So, they write to his niece (or sister or another close relative, depending on the version) who comes for a visit. He's inhospitable and tells her she should leave because he has nothing to feed her. She tells him all she needs is a single button (or pebble or ax head, depending on the version) and she can make a delicious, filling soup.

Intrigued, the miser gives her a button, which she puts in a great big soup pot with a lot of water. He's fascinated to find out how this is going to turn into soup, so he stays with her as she stirs the pot. She makes small talk and eventually mentions that while the soup will be fine as it is, it would be an awful lot better if she just had a little salt. He thinks that over and then allows how while he doesn't have any food, he does have a bit of salt put aside. So he brings it to her and she adds it to the pot and keeps stirring.

This goes on for a while, and every now and again she mentions that if she just had one thing - an onion, a potato, a ham bone, a carrot, and on and on - the soup would be just that much better. And each time he claims he has no food, but he might have a little of that one thing put aside. Eventually, she has a ginormous pot of soup.

Then, she tells him the only thing the soup needs is some friends to share it with. So, they invite the whole town, and all the starving people get to eat. The end.

Anyway, Button Soup is what I call it when I have a bunch of bits and bobs leftover and I throw them all together into a single dish to make something. Because anything can go into button soup, it just depends what you happen to have on hand.

So, that's my recipe for you, today. Take a look in your fridge, freezer, and pantry and see what you have that needs to be used up.  Then, use a little imagination and create something yummy. It doesn't have to be soup, though soup is a good vehicle for such a recipe, it can be a casserole, a stir fry, a hash, or whatever will fit your leftovers. And, to finish it off, why not invite a friend over and share?

Bon Appetit! :-)

#October2019 #IndieBooksBeSeen #Indie #Author #Books #Monthly #BookReview!

Hey Everyone!! :-)

It's the 18th again, so time for my #IndieBooksBeSeen monthly indie author book review!! Enjoy! :-)

Undead on Arrival by Stuart Kenyon:

The political wrangling continues in this third installment of the Augmented series, and appears as though it will ultimately fail. John and his friends find themselves struggling to cope with the prospect of the inevitable result of the failure of politics, war, and figuring out who among the power players are worthy of their support. Will they be able to sort out truth from deception and leaders from tyrants before it's too late? You'll have read to find out!

Once again I found myself drawing parallels between the events in this book and the events I see play out on the nightly news. The jockeying for position among a group of so-called leaders who only seem to be interested in the accumulation of power for themselves, the complete and utter conviction among some that their viewpoint is the only possible correct viewpoint and anyone who doesn't agree with them is by definition an enemy to be destroyed, the use of violence and coercion as short cuts to achieving goals that would be better served through persuasion and compromise are just a few aspects of this future society that mirror our own. While reading this book there were many times I wished I could pull the characters aside and give them a lecture on ethics and diplomacy...much as I often wish I could communicate to those who are running our government now. Bottom line, the realistic portrayal of humanity -- in all our wonderful, glorious genius and madness -- makes this a book worth reading. There aren't many authors who have the courage and honesty to paint our society as it truly is, warts and all, but Mr. Kenyon is one of them. Five stars and I can't wait to read the next book!

I've got Michael R. Stern in my APC spotlight, today! Michael is an active and supportive member of the  Authors-Professional Co-op Facebook group and his young adult, time-travel, science fiction, action/adventure novel, Storm Portal, looks great! Here's the description:

Fritz finds his sudden time trip to the past both a gift and a chance for great adventure. But when a portal opens to the Oval Office, he realizes that the mysterious gate could also be put to a more serious purpose.

When the president hires him to help with national security, Fritz doesn't believe there is any danger in traveling across time and space. But will his own government consider him expendable if he cannot solve the mystery of the portal?

Day One-Thousand-Nineteen:
I am beginning to believe that my first assumption was incorrect. I no longer think that my hominid-servant is concealing matter transference technology in the room she uses to attend to her sanitation needs. Instead, I believe my young companion may have been sounding the alarm regarding a possible contaminant in the liquid H2O that is dispensed within this room. I can think of no reason beyond some form of chemical dependency that my hominid-servant would feel the need to cover herself in liquid H2O as often as she does. Therefore, I will alter the focus of my investigation and endeavor to discover just what substance has created such a bizarre compulsion in my poor, hapless hominid-servant.

Uh-oh! The game's afoot!  ;-) You may have noticed that Agent Thoth has a new look. I hope you like his new picture as much as I do, but I'd love to hear your thoughts, either way. Feel free to let me know what you think in the comments. ;-) Happy reading, everyone!

Lead, Follow, Or Get Out Of The Fucking Way!

Hey Everyone!

Today's post is going to be short and to the point, because I'm in a mood. Sorry in advance if this hurts anyone's feelings, but sometimes the truth hurts, and I'm going to speak some now.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am so unutterably sick and tired of do-nothing centrists, people who have spent the last 40 years running this country into the ground and creating a situation so irredeemably toxic it allowed a detestable charlatan like Don the Con to rise to power, lecturing progressives about how we shouldn't back political candidates who will actually do something to help this country and its people. Seriously? Go fuck yourselves. No, for real, fuck off.

If you really want to create a coalition, then feel free to join us and support the revolution. Together we'll build this country into something that works for all Americans, and not just the super-rich. But if all you want to do is bitch and moan because we refuse to sell out the way you have, then get bent!

Peace-out!

Something Worth Watching?

Hey Everyone!! :-)

I'm back today with another video I wanted to share. This one was made by a Bernie supporter who did a fantastic job of highlighting the difference between the reality of Bernie and the coverage he has received from the mainstream media. It's not that long, but it's long enough to make you think about how the corporate media is trying to manipulate us. So please take a few minutes to watch, and then draw your own conclusions. Peace!

Delicious, Easy Manicotti #Recipe!

Hey Everyone!! :-)

This recipe is a delicious, stick-to-your-ribs way to welcome in the cooler weather. Enjoy! :-)

Ingredients:
1 package manicotti shells
1 15oz container ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated pecorino Romano cheese
1 10oz package frozen spinach thawed and squeezed dry
2 onions minced fine
4 cloves garlic minced fine
4 tsp fresh parsley chopped
2 tsp fresh basil chopped
2 tsp fresh oregano chopped
1 egg
4 cups tomato sauce (Recipe Here)
Salt and pepper to taste

In a large bowl, mix the ricotta, 1 cup of the mozzarella, 1/4 cup of the Romano, spinach, onion, garlic, basil, oregano, 2 teaspoons of the parsley, salt and pepper, and egg. Spread 1 cup of the tomato sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Stuff the uncooked manicotti shells with the ricotta mixture, and arrange them in a single layer in the dish. Cover with the rest of the tomato sauce and sprinkle with the remaining parsley, mozzarella, and Romano. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the cheese is browned and the manicotti shells are soft.

Buon Appetito!

#Agent Thoth's #Personal Log: Day 1017

Hey Everyone! :-)

Agent Thoth discusses more of the trials and tribulations associated with living with hominids. Incidentally, if you've missed Agent Thoth's earlier entries, you can find them here: Thoth's Journal

Department for the Preservation and Confirmation of Intelligent Life (DPCIL)
Agent Thoth's Personal Log

Day One-Thousand-Seventeen:
I have yet to uncover any evidence that my hominid-servant has concealed any matter transference technology in the room she uses to attend to her sanitation needs. I have been rather diligent in my observations and, surprisingly, my young protégé has been of good use in this endeavor, as he always alerts me any time she nears the room. However, thus far, the only thing I have discovered is how long it takes to clean the lower limbs of a hominid after they have foolishly allowed themselves to be covered in liquid H2O.

Hominids are nuts! ;-) You may have noticed that Agent Thoth has a new look. I hope you like his new picture as much as I do, but I'd love to hear your thoughts, either way. Feel free to let me know what you think in the comments. ;-) Happy reading, everyone!

Too Much Of A Good Thing...

Rolling her eyes with affectionate exasperation at her friend, Petri again reflected on how happy Chessie had seemed since they arrived on Zanzibar. Though, she supposed that shouldn’t surprise her, since just about everyone on this planet seemed to be happy most of the time. It was something she had noticed almost immediately. Since her need to feed on the energy of others had been tied to their emotions for so long, Petri tended to be acutely aware of how the people around her were feeling. And on Zanzibar, most of the people seemed to experience pleasant emotions most of the time.

In all the places she, Chessie, and Sadaka had visited with Daji, Petri had never experienced such a widespread sense of peace and happiness as she found here. Most of the planets they had been to lacked the desperation and all-encompassing avarice of Upworld, but Zanzibar had somehow cracked the code to move past making the majority of the population simply not unhappy to ensuring sufficient support and opportunities for the citizenry that people were able to enjoy their existence instead of merely enduring it.

Being surrounded by so much positive emotion was almost like a drug for Petri, at times. Even though she no longer had to take in the emotions of those she fed upon, if she opened herself up too much, she could still be swept away by what others felt. It was a strange problem to have, the temptation to experience vicarious pleasure just because she lived in such a happy city, but it was a problem all the same. Allowing her consciousness to expand that far beyond her own senses risked her not being aware enough of her immediate situation to respond to danger if necessary. So, ironically, it was Petri’s own sense of paranoia that she found most helpful in warding off the desire to wallow in the happiness she found herself surrounded by.
