Who Is Mistral Dawn?

Mistral Dawn is a thirty-something gal who has lived on both coasts of the US but somehow never in the middle. She currently resides in the Southeast US with her kitty cats (please spay or neuter! :-)) where she works as a hospital drudge and attends graduate school. Taken By The Huntsman is her first effort at writing fiction and if it is well received she has ideas for several more novels and short-stories in this series. Please feel free to visit her on FaceBook or drop her a line at mistralkdawn@gmail.com

#News & A #SneakPeek! :-)

Hey Everyone!! :-)

Guess what?  I've completed the first draft of Petri's Story!! :-)  So what does that mean?  Well, now I've got to figure out a real title, get a cover, get all the editing done, and format the file for upload.  I'm also starting a new job this week, so it may take me a while before I settle into the new routine and figure out how to get my writing stuff done around my work stuff.

Which is a long way of saying that, while the basic story is written, it may be a while before I'm able to publish.  I apologize in advance for the delay, but I promise to keep you all updated. :-)  At this point, I'm going to shoot for an April or May release, but as I said things are kind of up-in-the-air and that's not a firm prediction.  In the meantime, here's a little peek at what Petri's up to. ;-)

Excerpt:
Daji smiled and walked over to one of the plants. Reaching up, he stroked the broad, waxy, dark green leaves. "The hydroponics bay on this ship is rather small. These supplement both the oxygen and the food those plants are able to provide." He plucked a small, round, red growth from the plant he was petting and held it out to her.

Taking it, Petri turned the ball over in her hand. She looked at him in confusion. "What is it?"

"It's a berry."

She continued to stare at him, her forehead wrinkled.

"You eat it."

"You eat growing things?"

He gave her an exasperated look. "The diet of most people on most planets consists mainly of fruits, vegetables, and grains."

"Yes, but only after they've been processed!"

Smiling, he plucked the berry from her fingers and held it up to her lips. "It's better this way. Try it."

Hesitantly, Petri bit into the strange food. A burst of sweet/tart juice exploded over her tongue. She swallowed quickly but the unusual flavor lingered in her mouth, and she realized it was good. In fact, it was amazing! Smiling, she took the remainder of the berry from Daji's fingers and popped it in her mouth. This time, she chewed it slowly, savoring the taste.

"It's delicious!" she smiled at him.

Daji grinned back and picked another berry for himself.

When they had finished their treat, Daji stepped closer to her. Reaching down, he tilted her face up and studied her expression. What he saw there must have satisfied him because he leaned down and kissed her.

Petri opened her mouth when Daji slid his tongue across her lips. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she drew him closer and tasted the lingering sweetness in his mouth. She liked the way he took the time to explore her mouth; he was gentle and thorough. It was already clear to her that this was not a man who was interested in a quick fuck.

Hope you enjoyed that! :-)  And please stay tuned for the next installment of Mistral Dawn's Musings!
