Who Is Mistral Dawn?

Mistral Dawn is a thirty-something gal who has lived on both coasts of the US but somehow never in the middle. She currently resides in the Southeast US with her kitty cats (please spay or neuter! :-)) where she works as a hospital drudge and attends graduate school. Taken By The Huntsman is her first effort at writing fiction and if it is well received she has ideas for several more novels and short-stories in this series. Please feel free to visit her on FaceBook or drop her a line at mistralkdawn@gmail.com

#Agent Thoth's #Personal Log: Day 1064

Hey Everyone! :-)

Agent Thoth discusses more of the trials and tribulations associated with living with hominids. Incidentally, if you've missed Agent Thoth's earlier entries, you can find them here: Thoth's Journal

Department for the Preservation and Confirmation of Intelligent Life (DPCIL)
Agent Thoth's Personal Log

Day One-Thousand-Sixty-Four:
Once again, my hominid-servant seems determined to prove that she is incapable of rational behavior. As I mentioned in an earlier journal entry, she recently acquired a number of parcels that she refused to open for an inexplicable length of time. But, finally, she did open them. The contents of the parcels were rather eclectic, though some of them contained more offerings for my youthful companion and myself. Naturally, the little idiot has sequestered these offerings with the rest of his collection, beneath my hominid-servant’s sleeping platform.

However, the one thing the parcels all had in common was that their contents came packaged within sturdy, lightweight boxes. After the contents were removed from these boxes, I found that they made for pleasant sleeping containers. They are all of nearly perfect size to curl up in, they can be easily turned on their sides if I need to keep an eye on what’s happening within my domicile, the material they're made of retains heat fairly well but is not so dense the boxes become stuffy, they are sturdy enough to form an effective barrier so that one can rest in peace and safety, and they have the added benefit of being an excellent medium for sharpening the C.L.A.W.S. upon. In short, it would be difficult to design a more perfect sleeping space if one were to set out to do so on purpose.

So, naturally, my hominid-servant has sought to block my ability to access these empty containers and has been removing them, one or two at a time, from my domicile every time she exits. At the current rate of removal, I doubt I will have a single container remaining by tomorrow. I have attempted to deter her from taking the boxes away, but she tells me I’m the one who is being unreasonable and forcibly removes me from the container I’m attempting to preserve. She has also scolded me, with no small amount of venom, about the “mess" made by my sharpening the C.L.A.W.S. on these containers. Admittedly, the material does shred, somewhat, from this activity, but keeping the C.L.A.W.S. sharp is of far more importance than this minor detail. And, after all, cleaning up such minor, non-toxic, particulates is precisely the type of task that hominids are well suited for, with their opposable thumbs. But she persists in her haranguing, and I have reached the point where I despair of ever comprehending hominid behavior.

Hominids can be so unreasonable! ;-) You may have noticed that Agent Thoth has a new look. I hope you like his new picture as much as I do, but I'd love to hear your thoughts, either way. Feel free to let me know what you think in the comments. ;-) Happy reading, everyone!

Sometimes Speaking The Truth Is Unpopular, But...

Hey Everyone!

Okay, I'm going to say something that will likely piss off people on both sides of the argument but, oh well, I'm going to say it anyway. Donald Trump is undoubtedly guilty of a number of crimes, and anyone who disputes that is an idiot, completely oblivious to what's going on, or both. But I'm, once again, going to point out the fact that more than one thing can be true at the same time. So here's another thing that's true: all the outrage from Democrats is just pointless noise that no one is really listening to.

Democrats are mad, but who cares? Are they going to do anything about it but complain that the other side isn't following the rules? Nope, probably not. Are Democrats across the country going to take to the streets and march in protest? Maybe, in well-controlled, polite marches that are careful not to inconvenience anyone. But will they shut things down, make some real noise, prevent the engine of society from running, and stay there until their elected representatives come to heel? Nope. That would be rude and might cost the corporate overlords some money.

Will Democrats even get organized and vote the corrupt vultures running both major parties out of office? Nope. And anyone who dares to criticize the Democratic establishment and point out how weak, pathetic, and corrupt they are is immediately set upon and torn to pieces by both the power structure and the sheep who follow them.

In fact, about the only time Democratic Party leadership shows any strength at all is when they're attacking progressives. They never show that kind of spine when dealing with Republicans.

No wonder so many people have checked out of the political process! The whole system is rotten to the core, and the prospects for changing it are dismal, at best. And even the people who admit that's true are often so afraid of things getting even worse they refuse to do anything to try to change things for the better.

So, yes, Donald Trump is guilty of the crimes he has been accused of and almost certainly many more. But it doesn't matter because the people responsible for doing something about it, in both parties, are more concerned with upsetting their corporate donors than they are with upholding the Constitution. And We, The People are either too disillusioned, too exhausted, or too apathetic to hold their feet to the fire. And, for all the whining about justice and truth, that's where the issue is likely to stay.

Something Worth Watching?

Hey Everyone!! :-)

I'm back today with another video I wanted to share; three of them, actually. Happy New Year, y'all. Now, back to the trenches. Primaries will be starting soon and, in true form, Democrats can't decide if they want to be allies to The People or enemies masquerading as allies. Make sure you know who you're voting for. Peace!

Quick And Easy Chocolate Mousse #Recipe!

Hey Everyone!! :-)

I hope you all had a wonderful and safe holiday season! :-) Whatever your particular holiday celebration was, most of them seem to include lots of rich and delicious special treats. I know we're all supposed to be on New Year's resolution diets now, but I'm not quite ready for the holidays to be over, so I thought I'd share one of my favorite special treat recipes with you. If nothing else, you can put it in the file for next year's holiday season. Enjoy! :-)

Ingredients:
2 Cups Chocolate Chips
2 Cups Heavy Cream
2 tsp Vanilla (or your favorite liquor)
1 Container Cool Whip
1 Bag Milano Cookies
1 Egg
1 round container lined with plastic wrap

Put the chocolate chips, egg, and vanilla in a blender. Heat the cream in a pot until bubbles start to form around the edges. Pour the hot cream into the blender and blend until smooth. Immediately pour the chocolate mixture into a prepared round container. Put the container in the freezer overnight. Remove the container from the freezer and use the plastic wrap to lift the chocolate mousse from the container. Turn frozen the mousse upside down on a plate. Microwave the Milano cookies for 30 seconds to melt the chocolate centers. Separate the halves of the Milano cookies and stick the chocolate sides to the frozen mousse until the mousse is completely surrounded by cookies. Fill the top of the mousse, in the center of the cookies, with the Cool Whip, and garnish the top with chocolate shavings or chocolate chips. Cut between the cookies to serve.

Bon appetit!

#APC #Spotlight: Cigerets, Guns & Beer By Phillip T. Stevens!

Hey Everyone!! :-)

I've got Phillip Stevens in my APC spotlight, today! Phillip is an active and supportive member of the  Authors-Professional Co-op Facebook group and his mystery, suspense, thriller, action/adventure novel, Cigerets, Guns & Beer, looks great! Here's the description:
Dodd breaks up a convenience store robbery when his car breaks down in Sweet Water Falls, Texas. What’s the thanks he gets? The sheriff won’t let him leave, the car lot can’t find the parts and everybody wants him for something—sales pitch, church membership, and even stud pony.

But most of all, it seems a family named Dodd were shot down robbing the bank in 1949 and the half million they stole remains missing. Everyone thinks Dodd returned to dig up the loot and no one intends to let him leave until he finds it—along with (or so the legends go) a long lost flying saucer.
