Who Is Mistral Dawn?

Mistral Dawn is a thirty-something gal who has lived on both coasts of the US but somehow never in the middle. She currently resides in the Southeast US with her kitty cats (please spay or neuter! :-)) where she works as a hospital drudge and attends graduate school. Taken By The Huntsman is her first effort at writing fiction and if it is well received she has ideas for several more novels and short-stories in this series. Please feel free to visit her on FaceBook or drop her a line at mistralkdawn@gmail.com

#May2021 #IndieBooksBeSeen #Indie #Author #Books #Monthly #BookReview!

Hey Everyone!! :-)

It's the 18th again, so time for my #IndieBooksBeSeen monthly indie author book review!! Enjoy! :-)

Cigerets, Guns & Beer by Phillip T. Stevens:

You've heard of a comedy of errors? How about a comedy of absurdities? That's what Dodd finds himself in the middle of when his car breaks down, and he has to stop in a small town in Texas to get supplies when he ends up in the middle of a minor legal tangle that detains him. Little did he know this would lead to him finding himself ensnared in a local treasure-hunting legend, on the wrong side of a corrupt, small-town oligarchy, and as an object of lust for every woman in the vicinity. Can he find his way through this labyrinth of small-town lunacy and incestuous corruption? You'll have to read to find out!

I really enjoyed this book. It's a hilarious take on small-town life. The "big fish in a small pond" trope is used skillfully, and the way characters are simultaneously mocked for their foibles and celebrated for the ingenuity and ability to enjoy simple pleasures demonstrates an understanding of human nature that is admirable. Five stars.
