Who Is Mistral Dawn?

Mistral Dawn is a thirty-something gal who has lived on both coasts of the US but somehow never in the middle. She currently resides in the Southeast US with her kitty cats (please spay or neuter! :-)) where she works as a hospital drudge and attends graduate school. Taken By The Huntsman is her first effort at writing fiction and if it is well received she has ideas for several more novels and short-stories in this series. Please feel free to visit her on FaceBook or drop her a line at mistralkdawn@gmail.com

#Agent Thoth's #Personal Log: Day 1071

Hey Everyone! :-)

Agent Thoth discusses more of the trials and tribulations associated with living with hominids. Incidentally, if you've missed Agent Thoth's earlier entries, you can find them here: Thoth's Journal

Department for the Preservation and Confirmation of Intelligent Life (DPCIL)
Agent Thoth's Personal Log

Day One-Thousand-Seventy-One:
As I predicted, the juvenile felid did make another attempt to evade my hominid-servant’s stricture against leaving my domicile. This time he demonstrated a level of patience that was as admirable as it was surprising….for him, at least. He waited until my hominid-servant’s attention was focused elsewhere – the canid was determinedly vocalizing, as it happened, and my hominid-servant was attempting to soothe him as she retrieved a package that had been left outside the door to my domicile – and my young companion took advantage of her distraction to slip through the door before she noticed he was there.

Unfortunately for the little idiot, and as he discovered for himself, the frozen precipitate coating the ground is extremely unpleasant on one's feet. And, at the moment, the depth of the layer that has accumulated exceeds the height of the average DPCIL Agent. The incautious fool leapt headfirst from the platform immediately outside the door to my domicile and disappeared into a pile of the cold, wet, mush. He immediately made a reappearance and headed, most precipitously, in the opposite direction.

The expression the tiny terror wore on his face, as he rushed past my startled hominid-servant and sprinted to his favorite hiding place beneath her sleeping platform, was difficult to decipher. I believe it was something between astonishment and a deep sense of betrayal. Though, what or who he believes betrayed him escapes me. I had hoped to interview him regarding his feelings about this experiment, but he persists in remaining in his retreat and responds to any attempts at communication with an irrational amount of hostility. As always, however, I will continue my efforts and report back on any further developments.

Drat! Foiled again. ;-) You may have noticed that Agent Thoth has a new look. I hope you like his new picture as much as I do, but I'd love to hear your thoughts, either way. Feel free to let me know what you think in the comments. ;-) Happy reading, everyone!

#NewRelease #Announcement: Red Tide: Dangerous Waters By Claudette Melanson!

Hey Everyone!! :-)

My good friend, Claudette Melanson, has a new book out, and she'd like to tell you about it. Claudette, take it away! :-)

Claudette:
Red Tide: Dangerous Waters is now available. The first book in the second Maura DeLuca trilogy, The DeLuca Vampires. Content is suitable for readers aged 14 and up, and the YA series has been well received by adult readers as young as 75. Please, see the book description below, as well as buy links and social media links for the author, Claudette Melanson.

Nearly two years have passed since the events which took place in the first set of books, The Maura DeLuca Trilogy…

Maura has finally made peace with her transformation into a creature she never imagined could be real…much less one she might become. With her newfound existence comes the benefit of family, friends and allies who fill her life and heart with a love like she has never experienced during all the years she has lived with her melancholy, but loving, mother. But along with the most welcome comradery, all manner of new challenges arise—many of them deadly.

One of Maura’s new enemies, her auntie, Aldiva, cannot accept the young changeling as a member of her family. Aldiva’s treachery and murderous intent result not only in her own capture but that of her mate, Gregor—Maura’s beloved uncle and caregiver. Grown weary of waiting for her kin to concoct a plan of rescue, Maura plots a return to the Pacific Rainforest, accompanied solely by her blood-bonded mate, to face his elven kin and negotiate the vampire couple’s release.

But…as so often before in her past, events do not always play out the way Maura intends. She will soon discover that Ron’s elven kin pose an even greater threat than she dreamed possible. Presented with impossible choices, again and again, Maura will find herself placed at the most perilous collection of crossroads to ever mark her path. One careless misstep could draw her away, forever, from all she holds dear…or even snuff out her life, entirely.

˃˃˃ If you love books about vampires, elves, pixies, demons, angels and other fantastic creatures, Red Tide: Dangerous Waters is sure to keep you reading far into the night. This series isn’t your typical YA tale of vampires. Full of mystery, suspense and danger, this urban fantasy thriller delivers just enough romance & humor to accompany the elements of dark fantasy, served with a side of the supernatural. Maura’s story are novels certain to become classic paranormal and fantasy tales. The first series is not only for teen & young adult readers but has been well-received by many adult readers, as well. Maura doesn't live in Castle Dracula in Transylvania, but readers will discover a strong female protagonist that readers have come to love.

Something Worth Watching?

Hey Everyone!! :-)

I'm back today with another video I wanted to share. This one is another example of how the establishment expects progressives to eat the shit they serve us, smile, and thank them for it...and how one progressive, at least, is fighting back. I don't know how anyone who isn't one of the wealthy elite can refuse to see what a marvel AOC is. Enjoy! ;-)

Dinner Without The Fuss #Recipe!

Hey Everyone!! :-)

With the holidays over and all of us back at the daily grind, I find that sometimes I just want a really simple, uncomplicated recipe that doesn't require a lot of crazy ingredients that I have to go out and buy special, but still tastes amazing and warms me up on a cold winter night. This recipe is something that you can make with staples that most people keep in the house and it's one of my favorites. Enjoy! :-)

Ingredients:
1 large potato sliced into thin rounds
6 eggs beaten
1/2 cup broccoli chopped
1 small tomato chopped
1 onion chopped
1 cup button mushrooms sliced
2 cloves garlic minced
1 12oz can vegetarian onion soup or vegetable stock
8 tbsp butter
6 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp flour
1 tbsp sage
1 tbsp thyme
2 tbsp hot sauce (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste

Parboil the potato and then drain and toss it with two tablespoons of olive oil and salt and pepper. Set it aside in a bowl. In an oven-safe, deep-sided skillet, melt two tablespoons of butter and add the onion. Sautee until the onion is soft and add the mushrooms and garlic. Sautee until the mushrooms soften and the onion is caramelized. Remove the onions and mushrooms from the skillet and set them aside.

Add two more tablespoons of butter and two tablespoons of olive oil to the skillet. Add the potato slices to the skillet in a single layer and brown them on the bottom. Add two more tablespoons of butter and two more tablespoons of olive oil to the skillet and flip the potato slices over, keeping them in a single layer. Add the eggs to the skillet and sprinkle the broccoli and tomato pieces over the top. Put the whole skillet in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit and bake until the eggs are completely cooked, approximately 20-25 minutes.

In a small pot, melt two tablespoons of butter and sprinkle in the flour. Stir constantly until the flour starts to brown. Whisk in the soup or stock until all the flour lumps are smoothed out. Add the hot sauce (optional), thyme, sage, and previously cooked onions and mushrooms. Taste and adjust salt and pepper and seasonings as necessary.

Cut the egg and potato pie into slices and serve hot with gravy on top.

Bon appetit!

#January2020 #IndieBooksBeSeen #Indie #Author #Books #Monthly #BookReview!

Hey Everyone!! :-)

It's the 18th again, so time for my #IndieBooksBeSeen monthly indie author book review!! Enjoy! :-)

Dead End by Stuart Kenyon:

In this final installment of Stuart Kenyon's Augmented series, the action is non-stop. Our hero, John, is swept from one crisis to the next, frantic to find a way to keep himself, his friends, and city of a couple of hundred thousand people alive in the face of overwhelming odds. As he's playing his deadly version of emergency Whack-A-Mole, he's also ensnarled in the emotional turmoil that inevitably follows when living in such a dangerous would. Will John fight through his battles, physical and emotional, to find the peaceful rest he so clearly needs, or will he just rest in pieces at the end. You'll have to read to find out!

Once again, Mr. Kenyon has managed to weave contemporary themes into his post-apocalyptic dystopia. John is faced with the same type of petty, small-minded, selfishness from some of those around him that often thwarts the efforts of anyone who makes a genuine effort to effect positive change in the world. The understanding of how truly broad is the spectrum of human nature displayed in these novels is as rare as it is enjoyable. And the struggle the characters are constantly faced with to find the right balance between a beneficial utilization of technology and an overreliance on the same, not to mention where the ethical lines in the sand lie, is something I think every thoughtful person in our society can relate to. Five stars, for this book and the entire series. Well done, Sir.

#APC #Spotlight: Franky The Friendly Flamingo: An Anti-Bullying Book By Wanda Luthman!

Hey Everyone!! :-)

I've got Wanda Mital Luthman in my APC spotlight, today! Wanda is an active and supportive member of the  Authors-Professional Co-op Facebook group and her fantasy, anti-bullying, animal-friend, children's story, Franky the Friendly Flamingo, looks great! Here's the description:
Franky was a finicky dude, until he found his perfect, pink food. He then went in search for the perfect drink and wondered if it would also be pink. Now he's back and he's here to say, "Being yourself is always okay!"
This children's book contains an anti-bullying message through the beloved flamingo character named Franky. He is friendly with all the different birds, but one day he spots a little bird being bullied by a bigger bird and he intervenes in a loving way that teaches the other birds who had just been standing by how they can intervene too.
If you think this sounds like something you, or a munchkin in your life, might enjoy, go ahead and grab your copy here:

Thank you all so much for stopping by! Happy reading! :-)
