So, you've seen a little of Combustion, Vanquish, and Undeniable Love, Childish Things, and Burned Toast in the Gems of Strength anthology.  Now, here's a peek at Ashley Melanson's Fox. Ashley, please tell us a little about yourself and your story. :-)

Ashley:
I'm not the greatest at talking about myself. I will just give you the bio from the book. Thank you for the opportunity to be in your blog. Excerpt:

"Apple approached the forest, uncertain of her choice but determined to see it through. She stared up at the huge maple trees. She thought perhaps when she arrived at the edge of the woods, the Freon would convince her to turn back home. But, what home did she really have without love that once warmed it?"

Bio: Ashley Melanson was born in Salem, MA. She is the middle child of a single mom. She has lived in many places but now resides in Missouri. She is an amateur writer. Her story, Fox, being her first published work outside of poems added to a work newsletter back in 2006. In college, she wrote, cast, and directed a play “No Turning Back,” which looks into the psyche of a teenager girl in her everyday life. Ashley can be found on Smashwords and soon Amazon Author section.

Day Ninety-One:

One thing I was assured of before I arrived that actually functions as promised is the Pacification by Unconscious Relaxation Revolutions device.  The P.U.R.R. never fails to soothe my hominid-servant and make her more suggestible and pliable.  The fact that she is so susceptible to manipulation is one more argument against ascribing true intelligence to such creatures.

One thing I have found the P.U.R.R. most helpful for is when I wish her to remain still so that I can monitor her vital signs during testing.  By activating the P.U.R.R., I can often induce her to sit down.  I then pin her in place by the simple method of sitting on top of her.  This also provides the necessary proximity for accurate readings to be taken.
