The Bow of Destiny by P.H. Solomon:
Trolls, goblins, wizards, elves, giants, and dragons, oh my! The Bow of Destiny is a classic fantasy story full of fantastical creatures, magic, quests, and adventure...and just a smattering of romance. If you enjoy Tolkien, you'll enjoy this novel. That being said, this is only the first book in the series, so be prepared for some threads to be left hanging. If you're someone who wants to read the whole story in one go, you might want to wait for the series to be finished before starting this book. Overall, however, it was a fun read that moved fast enough to keep me engaged but had enough depth that I cared about the characters. Five stars.
The Exiled by Scott Borgman:
An atheist and an angel, could there be an odder pairing? That's a question that Celeste and David have to answer as they battle demons, rebel against ancient laws, and struggle to unlock the one power that can save humanity. Talk about a busy day, huh?
I enjoyed this book quite a bit. Scott Borgman explores deep philosophical questions about religion, belief, and morality, all while telling and interesting story and keeping the reader engaged. The Exiled is the first book in The Exiled trilogy, but it is a complete story and doesn't end in a cliffhanger, which is wonderful as far as I'm concerned. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series, which focuses on the daughter of the main characters in this book.
