Who Is Mistral Dawn?

Mistral Dawn is a thirty-something gal who has lived on both coasts of the US but somehow never in the middle. She currently resides in the Southeast US with her kitty cats (please spay or neuter! :-)) where she works as a hospital drudge and attends graduate school. Taken By The Huntsman is her first effort at writing fiction and if it is well received she has ideas for several more novels and short-stories in this series. Please feel free to visit her on FaceBook or drop her a line at mistralkdawn@gmail.com

A Little Taste Of Summer... 😉

Hey Everyone!! 😊

With winter well and truly here, now, at least in the northern hemisphere where I live, I thought a reminder of warmth of Summer might be a good idea. Enjoy... 😉

Excerpt from Bound by the Summer Prince:
“Well, it occurs to me that I never got to show you how talented a mouth I have.”

“Is that so?”

Pushing him onto his back and sitting up on her knees, Roni drew her hair behind herself and said; “MmmHmmm…Now lie there, and don’t move.  Or I’ll tie you up, this time.”

Grinning wickedly, the prince lay back and crossed his arms beneath his head.   His gaze traveled over his Anamchara’s body, as his own hardened.  “Really?  I think I find that proposition intriguing.”

Putting her hands on her hips, Roni gave him a mock severe look and said; “Are you going to behave, or do I need to find some rope?”

Pretending to consider, he said; “I’ll cooperate for now, but you might want to have the rope ready.”

Noticing that her lover’s eyes were locked on her breasts, she gave her shoulders a small shake, which caused them to sway.  His gaze followed her dancing flesh, as it moved hypnotically from side to side, and she leaned forward to whisper in his ear; “If I have to tie you up, I’ll blindfold you too.”

Her words startled a laugh from him, and his eyes locked with hers. “You are a saucy wench, aren’t you?”  He smiled. “Well, I guess I’d best behave myself then; I’d hate to miss out on such a view.”

Her grin spread from ear to ear, and she felt her eyes sparkle.  She wondered at his ability to tease her and make her enjoy it. Leaning down again, she laid a gentle peck on his lips, turning it into a trail of teasing kisses down his jaw and neck.

Uaine’s eyes slid closed at the heavenly feel of his Anamchara’s mouth on his body. It was all he could do to keep his hands where they were, and not reach out and draw her beneath him. She seemed intent on tormenting him, and he longed to feel her lips around the part of his body that was hard and aching.

Something Worth Watching?

Hey Everyone!! :-)

I'm back today with another video I wanted to share. Two, actually. Both of them are clear demonstrations of exactly what the establishment of both parties thinks of the rest of us, and of how the corporate media is complicit in covering up the truth. And, this is for you, Democrats, this is what you voted for. Time to wake up and realize that there is no "lesser evil" when it comes to the establishment. Neoliberals and conservatives hold the electorate in the same contempt. The only way to bring those in power to heel is to force them to submit to the will of The People. And that won't happen as long as you keep voting for them.

Easy Vegetarian Quesadillas #Recipe!

Hey Everyone!! :-)

This is an easy, quick recipe for some delicious vegetarian quesadillas. Enjoy! :-)

Ingredients:
1/4 cup canola or vegetable oil
12 corn tortillas (or flour, I just prefer corn)
1 14oz can refried beans
1 14oz can red kidney beans drained and rinsed
2 cups sharp cheddar or pepper jack cheese shredded
1 large tomato diced small
1/2 cup cilantro chopped small
1 onion chopped very fine or grated
4 cloves garlic minced or grated
1 tbsp cumin
2 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tbsp sriracha (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste

Put all the ingredients except the tortillas and oil in a bowl and mix until thoroughly combined. Put the oil in a frying pan and heat until sizzling. Put half the tortillas (or as many as there are room for in your pan) into the pan and spoon the mixture from the bowl onto each tortilla in equal portions. Put the other half of the tortillas on top of the mixture and press the tortillas together firmly with a spatula. Cook until the bottom tortillas are browned and then flip over to brown the top tortillas. Remove the quesadillas from the pan and serve piping hot as-is or with salsa and/or sour cream to dip.

Buen provechito!

#HappyNewYear!! :-)

Hey Everyone!! 😊

Happy New Years! 😊  It's that time again, which means it's time for another one of my status check-ins. ðŸ˜‰ First of all, congratulations to all of you! If you're reading this, it means you've made it through all the trials and travails that 2020 threw at you, and that's no mean feat! Now, down to business.

It's hard to find anything good to say about 2020. Democrats rigged the primary against Bernie, again. And they got away with it. Again. Which resulted in the election of a corrupt, senile, racist, rapist, neoliberal like Biden. And, unfortunately, that means that there's not a lot of hope that things will improve any time in the foreseeable future.

Also, the COVID-19 pandemic happened and is still happening. Which has caused hundreds of thousands of deaths and immeasurable damage to the health, wealth, and well-being of millions of regular Americans and people around the world. With more to come, undoubtedly.

So, as I said, it's hard to find much reason for the optimism I like to start the new year with, but reality is what it is.

What does this mean going forward? It means we'll all have to fight harder than we've ever fought before. Something that's going to be extremely difficult because, if you're like me, you're probably exhausted. But with the way things are, if we want to have any hope for the future, we'll have to fight tooth and nail against both wings of the corporate party that's in control of our government to force through the changes we need. Whether the ruling class likes it or not.

So, towards that end, I sincerely hope we will all stay strong, defiant, and determined, and that we'll all be around to toast each others' triumphs this time next year. Stay rowdy, indecorous, and non-compliant, my friends. Be as civilly disobedient as you dare, and then some, and make the oligarchs remember why they should fear the wrath of the majority. We have the power of numbers; we just have to find the will to use it. And, as always, remember, non illegitimi carborundum! 😉

Peace!

Hey Everyone!! 😊

I've got Michael R. Stern in my APC spotlight, today! Michael is an active and supportive member of the  Authors-Professional Co-op Facebook group and his young adult, time-travel, science fiction, action/adventure novel, Storm Portal, looks great! Here's the description:
When history teacher Fritz Russell walks through his classroom door, he finds himself in the company of General Robert E. Lee - over 150 years in the past.
Fritz finds his sudden time trip to the past both a gift and a chance for great adventure. But when a portal opens to the Oval Office, he realizes that the mysterious gate could also be put to a more serious purpose.
When the president hires him to help with national security, Fritz doesn't believe there is any danger in traveling across time and space. But will his own government consider him expendable if he cannot solve the mystery of the portal?

#Agent Thoth's #Personal Log: Day 1227

Hey Everyone! 😊

Agent Thoth discusses more of the trials and tribulations associated with living with hominids. Incidentally, if you've missed Agent Thoth's earlier entries, you can find them here: Thoth's Journal

Department for the Preservation and Confirmation of Intelligent Life (DPCIL)
Agent Thoth's Personal Log

Day Twelve-Hundred-Twenty-Seven:
I can hardly believe it, but I must admit my hominid-servant successfully out-maneuvered me! After delaying hanging her baubles so long, she has already removed them and packed them away. What’s more she has also removed the dead tree from my domicile, already. This was before it reached an advanced state of decomposition and dropped all its foliage onto the floor, facilitating easy examination and distribution throughout my domicile for further study at a later time. I am absolutely flabbergasted at both the ingenuity and the lack of respect for the expansion of scientific knowledge displayed by my hominid-servant in this action. I’m truly unable to determine if this is evidence of burgeoning intelligence or simply an example of taking sadistic delight in depriving me of what I so clearly desired. Either way, I am most put out!

Hominids can be so impossible! 😉 You may have noticed that Agent Thoth has a new look. I hope you like his new picture as much as I do, but I'd love to hear your thoughts, either way. Feel free to let me know what you think in the comments. 😉 Happy reading, everyone!

Everybody Has Their Reasons...

Hey Everyone!! :-)

Here's a little bit more of the third installment in the Petri Dish Chronicles! As always, the disclaimer is that this is a draft and, as such, it's unedited and likely full of errors and is subject to revision, revamping, and being completely scrapped and rewritten. But, with that in mind, I'm reasonably satisfied with the basics of it, at least at the moment, or I wouldn't have bothered posting it. Enjoy! :-)

Excerpt from Shifting Paradigms:
The group walked on as Petri turned to Chessie and asked, “Why would people risk it if there’s so much danger involved in using energy they trade for.”

The older woman shrugged. “So they can stay here longer. You know as well as I do that not everyone enjoys spending time in their body. There are people who are in permanent, excruciating pain from injury or chronic illness. There are people who are terminally ill and afraid to be in their body and feel it as they die. And there are some who believe that if their minds are in the rainbow when they go, some part of them stays here forever.”

“There’s absolutely no evidence of that, for the record,” interjected Vlad.

Chessie just shrugged and continued, “There are people who have sold or traded so much of their body to the grinders, the only way they can really experience anything and live their lives is here.”

Petri did know of such people. If someone needed a lot of money fast ̶ if they ran up debts they couldn’t pay and knew the enforcers would be after them and their family, or if they had someone they cared about they wanted to buy out of House ownership or Company contract, or if they needed to buy medical treatment for a sick or injured loved-one ̶ they might negotiate with the grinders to sell part of their body in exchange for a pile of cash. It was one of the few ways most underworlders could earn a lot of money very quickly. People who had gambling problems or someone they loved who needed long-term treatment might find themselves going back to the grinders again and again. Until there wasn’t anything left to sell but their lives. Some people would take that step and sell that. Especially, if they needed the money for someone else’s benefit. Other people stopped, but whether what they ended up with was worth preserving, or not, was debatable.

But Chessie was still speaking. “And some people just never were all that comfortable in their own body.”

People like the woman walking next to Petri. She reached out to give her friend’s hand a squeeze, hoping her thoughtless question hadn’t cause the other woman pain. Chessie smiled back to show she was okay.
