#Water #Fountain #Pet #Bowl #Reviewed! :-)

Hey Everyone! :-)

About a month and a half ago, I got a motorized water bowl for my kitties.  I thought I'd share with you all what I thought of it in case any of you are considering getting one. :-)  It's my first pet water fountain.  I had been thinking about getting one for a while, but I was afraid my kitties wouldn't use it.  Every model of pet water fountain I had seen was rather loud, and I was concerned that the noise would scare my kitties and they wouldn't want to go near it.  After all, they hear better than we do.

Well, they've been using this one for more than a month now, and I think it's safe to say that it's an unqualified success. This fountain does have a motor loud enough for me to hear it if I'm in the same room, but it doesn't seem to bother my kitties.  It's a steady, constant whirring and they adjusted to it pretty quickly.  My oldest kitty took to it right away.  He has always preferred to drink from running taps if he could, so he loves this water bowl.  My second kitty won't drink from the bowl, but she slurps water up as it comes out of the spout.  I've never heard a cat slurp before, but she seems happy.  My third kitty wasn't entirely sure about the whole water fountain idea.  He spent a couple of days looking at it and me suspiciously, but he has since decided he likes it too.  In fact, all my cats stopped using their old water bowl altogether, so I removed it and just have this one down for them now.

It's easy to fill and easy to clean.  It comes apart easily for cleaning but reassembles just as easily.  My youngest kitty finds it necessary to wash his food before eating it (I think he thinks he's a raccoon), so I probably clean the bowl more than a lot of people have to.  It's hard plastic, so there's no problem just wiping it down with a little dish soap and a paper towel and then rinsing it thoroughly.

The one change I would make would be to be able to detach the power cord from the dish without having to take it apart first.  The power cord is attached to the motor (obviously) and doesn't detach, so you have to take the motor out in order to detach the cord from the dish.  I'm sure this is probably necessary to protect the motor from getting water in it, but it makes for awkward carrying when the dish is full of water. In order to take the motor out, you have to take the dish apart. It would be nice if the manufacturer could find another solution.  Even still, it's easy to use and my cats love it, so five stars.

If you want one for your furbabies, I bought this product from Amazon here:

But I'm sure you can probably also get it from pet stores and departments stores.  Thanks for dropping by today, and don't forget to check back tomorrow for the latest in Mistral Dawn's Musings! :-)

#Reflections In The #Dark Of #Night

Hey Everyone!!

I hope you're all having a lovely week so far.  Today, I thought I'd share a moment when Roni was having a bit of self doubt.  I think it's something that just about all of us can relate to, even if the specifics might differ somewhat..

Excerpt from Bound By The Summer Prince:
Sighing, Roni put the book she held back on the table beside her. She allowed the dress to slide the rest of the way off of her body, but didn’t drop it on the floor. It was far too nice a dress for her not to care for it properly, and it had somehow survived the evening relatively unscathed. There were a couple of small wine stains near the hem, from when she had dropped her glass on the floor, but other than that it was fine.

No one had told her what to do with her dirty laundry, so she folded it carefully and laid it over the back of a chair. She figured she could ask Jillian in the morning where she could wash it. When Uaine had left, he seemed to take all of her energy with him. It was all she could do to remove her bra and put on a nightgown before crawling into bed.

In spite of her exhaustion, sleep would not come. There were too many questions spinning through her mind for her to rest. She didn’t understand what had made the man pull away from her; wasn’t he supposed to be magically drawn to her? And why had she flinched when he had approached her?

She knew her reaction had been imperceptible to others, but she couldn’t figure out why she’d had such a reaction at all. Uaine wasn’t cruel or a bully. She was confident he wouldn’t deliberately hurt her or do anything she didn’t agree to. He was certainly easy enough on the eyes. Also, it wasn’t as though she hadn’t slept with her marks before in order to advance a scheme, so why the sudden attack of nerves?

Uaine’s behavior was also unfathomable. She knew he couldn’t possibly have seen anything on her face that would have given her thoughts away; her poker face had long ago been perfected, as her life often depended on it during the cons she ran. So what made him pull away? Was it possible this ‘bond’ that supposedly existed between them wasn’t as strong as she’d been led to believe? And was that a good thing or a bad thing?

If he didn’t feel bound to her, was he more likely to let her go home or just less likely to protect her? If nothing else, the party had demonstrated how much danger she would be in if the prince decided not to take care of her. Aside from the danger from magic, there were still so many things she didn’t know about this strange place. Jillian had only had time to explain the very basics to her before they had to dress for the banquet. She didn’t even know what these people used for money!

Chills wracked Roni’s body, in spite of the warmth of the room and the blanket that covered her, as she realized just how very vulnerable she was without Uaine and Jillian’s help. She had never before doubted her ability to survive with just her wits and a charming smile, but now she did. If the Fae decided she wasn’t worth their time, she was well and truly screwed.

Perhaps that was part of why she had reacted the way she did to paying up on her bet. It wasn’t the sex that had bothered her so much; it was the sense that she was losing control of her game. Sex on her terms was one thing; sex because she hadn’t been able to steer events the way she needed them to go, was another thing altogether. If she couldn’t even maintain control for the duration of a party, how was she ever going to manage to manipulate all of these people long enough for her to escape?

Roni tossed and turned for what seemed to her to be hours. When sleep finally did come, it was troubled and the nightmares came with it.

#CheckOut #Ice by Jessica Wren!

Hey Everyone!! :-)

If you follow this blog, you may have noticed that lately I've been trying to highlight some books by some amazing indie authors.  Well, here's another one!!  Ice by Jessica Wren is a really fun read that takes you into the little town of Minterville where something strange is going on. ;-)  Here's the review I wrote for it several months ago:

Something is rotten in the state of Georgia, or at least in the little corner of it called Minterville. A quiet, sleepy town with an innocent secret that makes the residents a little...different...than the residents of most of small-town America, Minterville seems an unlikely place for unexplained disappearances to occur. But that's just what happens: twenty of the women in the town suddenly vanish! It's up to the town sheriff, the mayor, and the rest of the town to find the missing women, and save them if they can. Unfortunately, doing so may just mean having to face the past, and revealing secrets that aren't quite as innocent as the one that makes the town unique. Will they have the courage to face up to past mistakes? Will they get to the women in time? You'll have to read to find out! ;-)

I enjoyed this story very much. At first, I thought it was a supernatural thriller, but after a while it became clear that it's more of a mystery/crime drama with supernatural overtones. The supernatural elements are important to the story of the town, but not central to the drama that unfolds in this tale. In this way, the book is almost as unusual as the townspeople, which makes for an interesting read. Five stars, and I'm very much looking forward to what Ms. Wren comes up with next! :-)

As I said, it's an entertaining story with a fast moving plot.  Want to find out more?  Why don't you check it out on Amazon here:

Need some more convincing?  How about this:

"Hold still," he said. Lying down next to her, he leaned over and kissed her gently on the lips. Trailing his kisses down her neck and chest, he took first one nipple and then the other between his lips. Alternating back and forth, he suckled them until they stood up in stiff peaks. Summoning the bottle of stimulating lubricant to his hand, he dribbled the liquid over her swollen buds, making her gasp and writhe on the bed.

Capping the bottle and setting it aside, he continued his journey southward and swirled his tongue around her navel. When he reached the top of the tuft of hair that protected her most intimate places, he sat up and looked at her.

Groaning, Kate met her lover's eyes. She wanted to ask why he had stopped but remembered just in time that she wasn't supposed to speak unless he asked her a question. Biting her lips, she maintained her silence.

Smiling to see that his Anamchara had remembered the rules of their game, Ankou said, "I want you to close your eyes and keep them closed unless I tell you to open them. Do you understand?"

Nodding, Kate said, "Yes, Master," and relaxed into the bed, closing her eyes.

Just think, you could win your very own copy and find out what happens next for free!! ;-)  Already have your copy?  Well, tell your friends! After all, you wouldn't want them to miss out on some sexy Fae, would you?

Thank you all for stopping in today.  Happy Sunday and I hope you're all having an awesome weekend!! :-)
